Business Management
System Implementation
and ISO Certification
Case Study
The Client: Nisbets Plc.
The brief
Our client required a bespoke Business Management System covering the entire business. The system needed to meet both stringent ISO standards and manage complex internal processes. The client wanted the prestige of ISO certifications and a system that also provided tangible business benefits.
Cala Sustain’s role
Cala Sustain worked with our client to:
- define the solution,
- design and develop the system,
- train up the team,
- embed the system into the organisation and facilitate successful certification audits.
System Design and Development
We developed an integrated business management system. The bespoke system was designed to meet the requirements of ISOs 14001, 50001, 9001 and 45001 (environment, energy, quality and health and safety). The system ensures consistency in all business functions. It covers a range of valuable activities such as sustainable procurement, customer satisfaction and legal compliance.
System Training
The system was going to be used by all departments within the business. We designed the training courses and materials for the teams who were going to be using the system. We ensured that everyone who was going to be using the business management system had the appropriate level of training and felt confident about using it.
Embedding systems and processes into the organisation
Alongside targeted training, we worked across all business functions to embed the system. Transferring ownership to the business and its functions in an effective way was crucial to the success of the system.
The project outcome
By implementing a new system, our client successfully achieved ISO Certification to all standards. Achieving certification has helped our client to grow their business and ensure a consistent approach. Being ISO certified opened up new revenue streams for them. They are now able to compete in more than £40 Million of new tenders each year, where ISO standards are a prerequisite to participation in the tender. The system has also become an invaluable business tool that sets continually improving performance benchmarks.
